Job Description

Our Client, a market leader in the Oil & Gas Sector, has an immediate requirement for a Senior Structural Engineer (Topsides) to provide a wide range of services to the offshore industry world-wide. Based in Aberdeen and reporting to the Structural Team Leader, you will be involved in both design verification and independent analysis activities.
   
Job Responsibilities  

  • design reviews to ensure compliance with relevant regulations
  • independent analysis of structures
  • maintain good communications with clients and designers
  • prepare bids in response to tenders.

Job Requirements  

You will be a chartered engineer holding a good degree in structural or civil engineering and have several years experience covering topside analysis, design and fabrication. Prior direct exposure to design appraisal and a higher level of relevant academic qualification would be an advantage. Specifically, you will need to:

  • have acquired an in-depth understanding of design codes AISC, API-RP2A (WSD & LRFD) and their development;
  • project management and co-ordination capabilities;
  • be familiar with fabrication specifications and;
  • have experience in topsides analysis linear software (STAAD PRO preferred).

Topsides experience in fire, blast & dropped objects design is also required.

You will equally need good written communication skills including technical report writing, the ability to work to tight deadlines and adaptability. There may also be a requirement to work in client or designers’ offices for temporary periods.
