Founded in 1860, the Royal Institution of Naval Architects is today an international organisation with its headquarters in the UK, representing naval architects in over 90 countries. It is a professional institution of international standing, whose members are involved at all levels in the design, construction, repair and management of all types of marine structures. Through its international membership, publications and conferences, RINA provides a link between industry, universities and maritime organisations world-wide.
Membership of RINA provides a professional qualification which is recognised throughout the global maritime industry as having demonstrated the highest standards of professional competence and integrity. RINA members enjoy a wide range of benefits and services, including advice and assistance on education, training and professional development. The RINA also publishes a range of technical journals, books and papers, and organises an extensive programme of international conferences and training courses covering all aspects of naval architecture and maritime technology.
Membership of RINA is open to anyone whose education, training and experience enables them to contribute to the design and construction of marine vessels and structures, in any aspect and at all levels.
